The economic and performance benefits of disk
Disk Aggregation is a process to combine more than one physical disk or logical disk drive and duly change into comparatively more larger disk drive. The purpose of such combination is mainly to create one single physical disk which has more capacity than any other physical disk, which is currently available. Thus it provides an easy to use way in such a way that the performance increases considerably. Virtualization of storage helps in achieving the location independence simply by abstracting the physical location of any data.It helps in providing a logical space to the user for storage of data. Further, it also provides for the process of mapping the data to the actual physical location available to the user. Thus the virtualization software or device always uses meta-data i. e. mapping information that enables to re=direct the VO request (Toigo, 2004). The main function of this device is first to receive an incoming VO request which contains several information regarding location of the data in reference to the logical disk.Thereafter it translates such disk into a new VO request to the physical disk location. All this system is so smooth as well as fault-less that without any special effort the whole sets of performances work wonderfully to the entire satisfaction of the user. Thus the virtualization device receive a read request for logical disk such as LUN ID =1 LBA=32. It can also perform a meta-data look up for above logical disk and transcend it into physical disk LUN D-7, LBAD.Again virtualization device can also receive the data back to the originating place as if it had received from virtual disk LUN ID=1. LBA 32. The main performance benefits are that for implementation of this device no additional hardware is required. Similarly, no other drastic change in infrastructure is needed for such virtualization. Since we are using logical volume manager,{LUM or LINUX } as Windows, which is called logical disk manager or CDM which are effective in perform ing the virtualization task, it is very simple to design and also easy to code. Its implementation also helps in supporting any storage type. Its usefulness more felt by the user such performance benefits. Thus user can install virtualization and its economic benefits are the avoidance of multiple virtual servers as a single server is enough for the best performance. It helps in cost reduction in following ways:1. Software license fee avoidance.2. Lesser space for date centre.3. Less power for unnecessary controllers.4. Reductions in overtime and better utilization of resources,5.Ã Reduction in overall cost as it helps in overall curtailment in 20-60% of many common management tasks. The advantages which are derived by the users are so many and the advantage of faultless working of such virtualization is so alluring that it is becoming very popular and user-friendly. The usages e enormous and as explained earlier the performance as well as economic benefits are making this device in dispensible in present days. With growing demand of virtualization the system is so designed that the user always find its implementation an asset to his growing need. Argumentative (intermarriage) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Argumentative (intermarriage) - Essay Example It is notable that the article primarily focuses on the policy implications of the new dichotomy suggesting that it is specially targeted for political audiences. By using a political approach, Lind highlights the major challenges which will be faced by the American government as a result of this transition. Lind argues against the preconception that the United States will become a ââ¬Å"true racial melting pointâ⬠characterized by the ââ¬Å"blending of black and white into a universal brownâ⬠(paragraph 1). The article refutes the claim of the US Census Bureau that there will be no intermarriage within the four major racial groups. Instead, he reveals the major trends in intermarriage in the United States, that is, Hispanics, Asians, and Indians have a higher incidence of marriage with Americans than with their own races (paragraph 5). Lind supports these claims through the use of various statistics. On the other hand, the article also recognizes that while intermarriage within the aforementioned racial groups with whites, blacks are left out (paragraph 8). In paragraph 10, Lind reveals that this is due to the ââ¬Å"conservative attitudesâ⬠of the blacks which frowns upon the idea of marriage with another race and view this as disloyalty. Second is the prevailing anti black prejudice in the American society which is ââ¬Å"picked up by immigrantsâ⬠(paragraph 10). Another is the general disapproval between blacks and white (paragraph 11). Lind also examines the political implication of the beige and white dichotomy: ââ¬Å"On the positive side, the melting away of racial barriers between Asians, Latinos, and whitesâ⬠but will facilitate a division between the ââ¬Å"enormous mixed race majority and a black minorityâ⬠(paragraph 13). Lind also predicts the possibility of institutional binationalism (paragph 14). He also does not discount the probability that black Americans will also join the melting pot. The main strength of Lindââ¬â¢s article is its use of

Comparison of the movie Milk and Moral Christian Values in the Essay
Comparison of the movie Milk and Moral Christian Values in the Marketplace - Essay Example This activism lures him to seek public office as he believes that he can make a more effective difference for the gay community as a political figure. Harvey suffers through the high and lows of running for office before he finally becomes the first known homosexual in the US to take a political office. His political office is an uphill battle in there is constant tensions between Harvey and his supervisor Dan White a fiercely conservative politician. The film Milk therefore invokes Kavanaughââ¬â¢s (1991) new conservatism. This new conservatism is two-tiered in that it has what is characterized as having ââ¬Å"two complementary but dangerous tendenciesâ⬠(Kavanaugh 1991, xiii). On the one hand, the new conservatism embraces the tendency to distinguish faith from notions of justice which is essentially being active in ââ¬Å"love and serviceâ⬠(Kavanaugh 1991, xiii). On the other hand the new conservatism has a ââ¬Å"tendency to equate faith with a particular form of social, political, or national powerâ⬠(Kavanaugh 1991, xiii). Harvey, the activist who seeks a form of justice for the homosexual community and is openly gay can be said to represent the second form of the new conservatism in that his conduct forces the distinction between faith and notions of justice by becoming active in both love and service. We see Harvey challenge traditional conventions and insert himself in the midst of it by not only advocating change, but changing it by becoming the first openly gay US politician in public office. By taking this approach, Harvey becomes active in both love and service. However, it is not Harvey is makes this distinction. It is White who by his attitude makes this distinction and it is Harvey that forces this distinction. Harvey essentially represents the second tendency attributed to the new conservatism in that for him faith is indistinguishable from traditional concepts of

Discussion Question Week 2-1D Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Discussion Question Week 2-1D - Essay Example This difference between research questions and hypotheses can also be comprehended with the help of a simple example: Research Question ââ¬â What percentage of people living in Ireland prefer cold-coffee over conventional coffee? Hypothesis ââ¬â On average, 50-60% of population living in Ireland prefer cold-coffee over conventional coffee. Therefore, in one sense, research hypothesis is an assumption made by the researcher in response to a formalized research question, which helps in the assessment of researcherââ¬â¢s personal knowledge and approach on the subject over which study is intended. Further, it is not always possible that a research hypothesis is proven to be the right answer for the research question by results of study, and in this case, researcher explores the reason why his/her generalizations got wrong. 2. Extraction of Research Question from Hypothesis: Example 1: Sample Hypothesis: The effects of changing climate will have no contributions in Malaria pene tration into Alaskan population.

Sociology - Asian-Americans Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Sociology - Asian-Americans - Essay Example Asia's products had reached the Americans from then on until eventually it reached Europe. Since 1565, economic trade among Asian countries and the United States was already existent. America's silver reached China, as well as lacquer in its American colonies and in Spain. Crops - corn and potatoes - from the United States had been transported to China to support its growing population passing through the Manila, Philippines. The galleon trade as well inhibited a connection between China and the Philippines such that the sailors from Manila to Acapulco remained and traveled to Spain's other colonies in other parts of America. Due to this continuous access to some parts of America, Filipinos, who were the first Asian settlers in the United States, established fishing and shrimping villages in bayous near New Orleans possibly as early as 1765, when they reached Louisiana. From then on, other Asian settlers followed after the Filipinos. "South Asians settled in port cities along the Eas tern seaboard by the 1780s, followed by the Chinese shortly thereafter, and Hawaiians negotiated the coasts and camps of California and the Pacific Northwest by the 1790s." (Okihiro, 2001) Initially, men were the initial settlers in the US. ... In 1778, at the same time when Captain James Cook came across Hawaii, Chinese sailors came in and immigrated as well. They too settled and intermarried with Hawaiian women. Some of the Chinese however reached the country along with the Koreans and Japanese as laborers to work on sugar plantations in the 19th century. Although there was still a large number of Chinese and Japanese began immigrating to the U.S. in the mid 19th century and worked as laborers on the transcontinental railroad. The surge in Asian immigration in the late 19th century had caused the "yellow peril", a term used to refer to the fear in the growing number of Asians in the country. ("Asian") The increasing tumult in the immigrants' respective countries was deemed as the main cause of such event in the American history of immigration before it even had its independence. "National independence failed to sever Asia's moorings within the world system and its circuits of capital, goods, labor, and culture, and political and economic refugees and migrant laborers still accompany products from Asia to Europe and North America as they did in the past. Since 1980, the rate of growth among Asian Americans far surpassed that of other groups, including whites, African Americans, and Latinos." (Okihiro, 2001) The United States' during the time that the Asian Americans were migrating into the country, America was at the same time facing its own economic and societal struggle. Along with the United States' capital deals with its systemic crisis of declining profits, the country seek out for cheaper labor that would live up to the government's infrastructural budgets. One way out of this crisis was to recruit and hire immigrants that were composed of

Accounting - Essay Example According to Bierman 24 besides building power plants, buying and selling of natural gas and electricity; the company also developed new markets like internet bandwidths, weather futures, pulp and paper business, water plants and oddball products which provided broadcast time for marketers which rocketed its financial incomes. Between the periods of 1995 to 2000, its revenues rose from $9 billion to an impressive $100 billion. The company won Americaââ¬â¢s most innovative company by Fortunes Most Admired Companies Survey for six years straight which added to its successful reputation. The accounting system required that the companyââ¬â¢s future profits were to be estimated at present value based on the signing of its long term contracts. The system was introduced by the joining CEO Jeffery Skilling, who ordered the companyââ¬â¢s reporting system to be changed from its actual sales and supply of its natural gas to the new system. The mark to market accounting estimations were in reference to the future net value of the cash flows which were often difficult to predict. This included estimated Enronââ¬â¢s projectsââ¬â¢ incomes that were irrespective of whether they were received or not and if changes were made like additional losses or incomes, they would be incorporated in subsequent periods. Enron Incorporation was the first non financial company to be given approval by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) use the system. Due to the numerous discrepancies in matching their cash and profits; the shareholders were given false reports. Therefore, a strategy to appease the investors was created (Bierman 45). Based on Bierman 55 the company executed pressure on its traders in order to forecast low discount rates and high future cash-flows on long-term contracts with the company. In essence, the difference margin between the original paid value and the present calculated net value was the companyââ¬â¢s profit. Contrarily, the estimated net
Los Vendidos by Luis Valdez Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Los Vendidos by Luis Valdez - Research Paper Example Though the mood of the play is light hearted or comic, it discusses grave issues that crave great social attention. The play brings to our notice the issues like social injustice, racism and the class segregation where the Americans always expected the Mexicans to rise up to their expectation. This attitude of the Americans is quite evident in the words of the secretary in the play where she demands the kind of robot that walks and behaves in the American fashion. A critical estimate of the play makes one join with the Canadian writer, Ryan McFadden when he rightly observed thus, ââ¬Å"Los Vendidos is a play centred on drawing great attention to the misconstrued stereotypes of Chicanos while covertly ridiculing Americans which in turn successfully brings about conversation and critical thinking of these stereotypes and inspires viewers the opportunity to change their preconceived notions of Chicanosâ⬠(McFadden para.1). Therefore, the proposed critical study aims to establish a foresaid statement, that is, the play is a criticism, presented in a satirical way, against the existing social injustice touching the Mexican Americans from the Native Americans. The setting of this one-act play is located at Honest Sancho's Used Mexican Lot and Mexican Curio Shop, a shop located in California that sells various kinds of ââ¬Ërobotsââ¬â¢, stereotypes of Mexicans and Mexican Americans.... The very presentation of the salesman-cum owner, Honest Sancho and the customer, Miss Jimenez, who introduces herself as secretary for Governor Reagan, itself provides enough materials for the audience about the Mexican and Mexican American clash. Jimenezââ¬â¢s reprimand to Sanchoââ¬â¢s mispronunciation of her name in ââ¬Ëbad Englishââ¬â¢, when he actually used Spanish accent, provides ample evidence for this disagreement. The attitude of the Mexican American to the Mexican is crystal clear at her ignorance to the cultural stereotypes exhibited in that showroom, though belongs to the Chicana or the Mexican American and was actually looking for a ââ¬ËMexicanââ¬â¢ type. The satirical note in the play is very notable that the dramatist does not spare even a single chance to criticise dominating mentality of the Americans. Elements of the comedy of manners in Los Vendidos can be especially identified when considering Valdezââ¬â¢s satirizing of his Chicano stock chara cters (Stereotyped, flat characters or caricatures) that fail to conform the conventions of the U.S. society (Vogelmann p.7). The reluctance of the Mexican Americans to mingle with the Mexicans has been shaded in the words of the Secretary when she disagrees with the prospect buying the first two robots. She rejects the first robot which is in the form of the farm worker, just because of the reason that he does not know English, which has an elite part of American culture which the Mexicans lacked. In order to proposes these issues, the dramatist resorts to realistic comedy which really enhances the quality of the presentation, especially the conversation between Sancho and the secretary. According to Vogelmann, ââ¬Å"The most important elements of realistic comedy in Luis Valdezââ¬â¢s acto Los Vendidos are,
